Rack base plates apply concentrated point loads. A slab designed for uniform loading can still fail under them.

FM2 or better, to a defined-movement specification

Required for VNA above roughly 8 m. Retrofitting flatness to an existing slab is grinding work, and expensive.

Also called: VDF flooring

Densified, power-floated finish

The common Indian warehouse floor. Good abrasion resistance at moderate cost.

Self-levelling, screed or coating

Dust control, cleanability and line marking that survives traffic. PU handles thermal cycling better than epoxy.

Metallic or non-metallic

Surface durability under steel-wheeled traffic.

Semi-rigid filler, steel armour

Joint spalling is the most common floor failure in a warehouse, and it starts at the wheels of a pallet truck.

Grinding, patch repair, joint reinstatement

Usually cheaper and far less disruptive than replacing a slab.

100–240 W · 6–14 m mounting

The standard fitting. Beam angle should be chosen from the mounting height and rack pitch.

Also called: aisle batten, linear high bay

Narrow beam aligned with the aisle

Puts the light where the work is instead of on the top of the racking.

Per-aisle occupancy sensing and daylight dimming

Aisles are empty most of the time. Sensor control typically cuts lighting energy by half or more.

Battery-backed, maintained

Statutory, and tested on a schedule.

Bench-mounted, adjustable

Pack, QC and inspection stations, where the general lighting is never enough.

Roof-integrated translucent panels

Free light, with a heat-gain trade-off that matters more in Indian summers than in the specification sheet.

Flameproof or low-temperature rated

Standard fittings fail at freezer temperatures and are not permitted in classified areas.

Insulated panels · vertical or high lift

The dock standard. Insulated, sealed and out of the way when open.

Also called: rapid roll door

Opens at 1–3 m/s · fabric curtain

Internal zone separation and high-traffic openings. Speed is what saves conditioned air.

Also called: roller shutter

Manual, chain or motorised

The Indian default for perimeter security. Slow and uninsulated — poor for a working opening.

Track-hung, manual or powered

Wide openings where headroom is limited.

Rated assembly with auto-closure

Compartmentation between storage zones. Rating applies to the whole assembly, not just the leaf.

Panic hardware · outward opening

Egress from every zone, kept unobstructed. Blocked exits are the most common audit failure.

Weather protection over the dock face

Keeps monsoon rain off the load transfer point.

Main and sub-distribution boards

Sized with headroom for the automation and the MHE fleet the operation will have, not just the one it has now.

Perforated tray, ladder or busbar

Busbar makes moving a machine a half-day job rather than a rewire.

Ventilated · bunded · acid-resistant

Lead-acid charging vents hydrogen and requires dedicated ventilation. Lithium changes the requirement but does not remove it.

Roller beds, hoist and charging rack

Multi-shift electric fleets that cannot afford charging downtime.

Standby generation and uninterrupted supply

Cold stores and WMS infrastructure cannot ride out a cut. Racking can.

Grid-tied PV on the shed roof

Warehouse roofs are large, unshaded and structurally simple — among the best PV sites available.

Packaging machinery, strapping tools and pneumatic conveying.

Washdown areas need drainage designed in, not added.
